Sri Lankan Sports Minister Harin Fernando responds to Fawad Hussain’s claims on Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan


Back in 2009, Sri Lankan players were attacked outside the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore and Most of the Cricket players were also injured in the attack but as the bus driver drove the bus quickly they have luckily escaped from the death trap.

Immediately, after the attack, the series was called off to an end and the Cricketers flew back to Sri Lanka. but Pakistan minister Fawad Hussain has tweeted that India has played a huge part in it. He divulged that players will be ousted from the Indian Premier League (IPL) should they represent their home nation in the tour of Pakistan.

However, Sri Lanka Sports Minister Harin Fernando has rejected claims made by Pakistan Minister Fawad Hussain by stating “No truth to reports that India influenced Sri Lankan players not to play in Pakistan.Some decided not to play purely based on 2009 incident. Respecting their decision we picked players who were willing to travel. We have a full strength team & we hope to beat Pakistan in Pakistan”
