Alsi the same Bookie, Deepak Agarwal has reached him Twice earlier that year in January during the Bangladesh Tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

“I am obviously extremely sad to have been banned from the game I love, but I completely accept my sanction for not reporting the approaches. The ICC ACU is reliant on players to play a central part in the fight against corruption and I didn’t do my duty in this instance.” Said Shakib after receiving the ban from ICC

“Like the majority of players and fans around the world, I want cricket to be a corruption-free sport and I am looking forward to working with the ICC ACU team to support their education programme and ensure young players don’t make the same mistake I did,” and Shakib added the following as quoted above.

Here are the texts that went between Shakib and Bookie in two different months of 2018.

Shakib’s WhatsApp Chat with Bookie in January 2018:

This is the first time the bookie approched Shakib, he approached him for the first time on WhatsApp congratulating Shakib for winning the man of the match award in a match in that tri series “Do we work in this or I wait til the IPL” referencing work on asking Shakib to out source the inside match information.

Four days later the Bookie was again texted him by saying “Bro anything in this series?”.

Both the times he was reached by Bookie he left silent and didn’t informed anything to ACU or any Cricket Authority. Later it again started in IPL 2018.

Shakib’s WhatsApp Chat with Bookie in April 2018:

“He received a WhatsApp message from Mr Aggarwal that day asking him whether a particular player was going to be playing in the game that day, i.e. again asking for Inside Information,” the ICC statement said.

“Mr Aggarwal continued this conversation with him by talking about bitcoins, dollar accounts and asked him for his dollar account details. During this conversation, he told Mr Aggarwal that he wanted to meet him “first”.”

“He confirmed that he had concerns over Mr Aggarwal, feeling he was a bit “dodgy”, and that, following their conversations, he had the feeling that Mr Aggarwal was a bookie,” the ICC statement said.

Shakib speaking on this also said that he hasn’t approached ICC or Bangladesh Cricket Board because he hasn’t accepted any offer from Bookie.
