Former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina Arrested In a Mumbai Club

Suresh Raina recently announced his retirement from international cricket on the same day when Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from International Cricket just before the beginning of the IPL 2020.

The Cricketer got arrested at the Mumbai’s Dragonfly club during a police raid on 22nd December around 3 AM in the morning along with 33 other people, which includes Guru Randhawa, an Indian songwriter and seven staff members of the club. Raina and the rest got arrested for disregarding the Night Curfew imposed by the Maharashtra Government.

The Night Curfew is imposed in the state till January 5 from – 11 pm to 6 am – to control the Covid19. After the raid, Mumbai Police in a Tweet said “Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning!”

Also, revealed 19 out of 34 were from Delhi & Punjab, which includes some celebrities. “Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning! A raid was conducted at a nightclub in Andheri at around 3 am, for flouting COVID prevention norms Action has been initiated against 34 people, out of which 19 were from Delhi & Punjab, including some celebrities” Said Tweet

Response from Suresh Raina:

Although there is no response from the Suresh Raina on the issue, his management said that the Cricketer wasn’t aware of local timings and protocols.

“Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols. Once pointed out, he immediately complied with the procedures laid out by the authorities and regrets the unfortunate and unintentional incident. He always holds rules and laws laid down by governing bodies with the highest regard and will continue to do so in the future as well,” Suresh Raina’s management said in a statement.
